After a dismal 5-16 start to the NBA season the Los Angeles Clippers made the tough call to virtually cut franchise legend Chris Paul. Since that day, Paul has not been travelling with the team, nor a part of the team due to reportedly causing a rift between coaching staff, and other players on the squad.

On Wednesday, the Clippers finally pulled the plug and traded CP3 to the Toronto Raptors in a 3-team-deal also sending Ochai Agbaji to the Nets. The Raptors have told Paul he will not be required to report to the team, leaving the Hall-Of-Famer's NBA future in jeopardy.
How Did We Get Here?
Chris Paul has spent the last 4 NBA seasons on 4 different teams, the; Suns, Spurs, Warriors, and Clippers. During that stretch he has seen his playing time continually decrease, moving into more of a mentor role, being widely considered as one of the best minds in all of basketball.
Paul announced he would be retiring following the conclusion of the 2025-26 season, using this year as almost a farewell tour, and signing with the Clippers, however he hasn't suited up since December. Reportedly, this is due to CP3 being a negative presence in the locker room, and not fitting the current Clippers roster.
Once he is waived from the Raptors, it is uncertain if he will be picked up by any team, with no reported interest so far.
Unfortunately, many people around the league (including myself), believe Chris Paul has indeed played his final game in the NBA. It's a sad way to see a legend go, but we're wishing Chris Paul the best in his future endeavours, and still holding out a fraction of hope he somehow finds himself on a roster before the end of the year.
